We are delighted to welcome Kris Commons to the 2026 hoops paradise cruise!

Born in Mansfield, England, Kris is a former Scottish international footballer whose name is firmly woven into modern Celtic history. Eligible to represent Scotland through his grandparents, Kris became a player Celtic supporters came to rely on in moments of real pressure, a footballer trusted when games, trophies, and momentum were on the line.

Kris joined Celtic in January 2011 following spells at Stoke City, Nottingham Forest, and Derby County, and his impact was immediate. Playing primarily as an attacking midfielder, he brought intelligence, composure, and a ruthless edge to Celtic’s attack. His style was defined by sharp movement, late runs into the box, precise long-range finishing, and an ability to slow the game down when others rushed it. When space opened on the edge of the area, Celtic fans knew he had both the calmness and the technique to make it count.

Across six seasons at Celtic, Kris made 226 appearances and scored 91 goals from midfield, an extraordinary return that places him among the club’s most effective attacking players of the modern era. Those goals were not routine numbers, they came in title run ins, cup finals, and European nights at Celtic Park, moments when responsibility had to be taken. Between 2011 and 2017, he played a central role in one of the club’s most dominant modern periods, helping deliver five Scottish Premiership titles, two Scottish Cups, and one League Cup.

The peak of his Celtic career came during the 2013 to 2014 season, a campaign many supporters still point to as the defining chapter of his time in green and white. Kris scored 32 goals in all competitions, finished as the Premiership’s top scorer, and was recognized as the outstanding player in Scotland, winning both the PFA Scotland Player of the Year and the Scottish Football Writers’ Association Player of the Year awards. It was a season that perfectly captured his influence, leadership, and willingness to decide games.

At international level, Kris earned 12 caps for Scotland between 2008 and 2013, scoring twice before stepping away from international football to focus on club football and family life. After a brief loan spell at Hibernian during the 2016 to 2017 season, he brought his playing career to a close, having built a reputation as a footballer defined by intelligence, professionalism, and big game delivery.
For Celtic supporters, Kris will always be remembered as a big game player, a midfielder who delivered goals when they mattered most, and someone who truly understood the weight of the Celtic jersey.
